Benjamin5 Whitney (James4, John3, Jonathan2, John1), son of Dea. James4 and Martha (Rice) Whitney, was born 23 Oct 1727, Sherborn, MA,[1] and died 17 Dec 1793, Sherborn, MA.[2]

He married firstly, 18 Apr 1751, Sherborn, MA, Esther Leland, daughter of Joseph and Esther (Thurston) Leland. She was born 31 Jul 1728, Sherborn, MA.

He "of Sherborn" married secondly, 9 Feb 1792, Mendon, MA, Mary Fairbanks "of Mendon".[3] She was born say 1730-1750, and died 23 Apr 1804, Upton, MA. Marriage intentions were published on 10 May 1795, Upton, MA, for her "of Mendon" and Capt. Robert Taft, as his second wife. She married secondly, 11 Jun 1795, Mendon, MA, Capt. Robert Taft "of Upton".
