David³ Whitney (Joshua², John¹), son of Joshua² and Abigail (Tarbell) Whitney,^[1] was born about 1682, Groton, MA,^[2] and died allegedly 1 Nov 1768, North Canaan, CT, aged 79 years, but his will is dated Oct 27, 1769, and proved Dec 13, 1769.^[3]

He married firstly, 20 Jan 1713, Groton, MA, Elizabeth Warren,^[4] daughter of Jacob and Sarah (-----) Warren.^[5] She was born 9 Jun 1693, Plainfield, CT,^[6] and died 22 Feb 1767, North Canaan, CT, aged 74 years.^[7]

He married secondly, 28 Jul 1767, West Hartford, CT, Prudence (Merrills) Sedgwick,^[8] daughter of Abraham and Prudence (Kellogg) Merrills, and widow of Ebenezer Sedgwick (1695-1759).^[9] She was born 22 Dec 1700, Hartford, CT,^[10] and died 1 Feb 1793, Hartford, CT.^[11]
