Amasa7 Whitney (William6, William5, William4, Nathaniel3, John2, John1), son of William6 and Mary (Mansfield) Whitney, was born 16 Jun 1777, and died 2 Feb 1852, Winchendon, MA.
He married, 9 Dec 1802, Mary Goodridge. She was born 20 Mar 1779, and died 11 Jun 1855.
Amasa Whitney was born in Winchendon, where he always resided. He was a prominent and influential citizen, and was one of three persons to lay the foundations for the growth and prosperity of the town. By his industry, frugality, foresight and enterprise the business of the town was largely increased. He was in public employment somewhat and had much influence in town and parish affairs. He was engaged in manufacturing and was often on important town committees. He resided Winchendon, MA.
