His vacations and spare time were devoted to assisting his father on the farm, where he acquired a liking for the work, and in 1879 he married Miss Abbie L. Browning, which marriage has resulted in the birth of eight bright boys, all living but one. He is settled on a good farm of his own, and is doing comparatively well, and, ordinarily speaking, has a bright future before him. Willard Armes9 Whitney (Solomon8, Solomon7, Nathaniel6, Samuel5, Nathaniel4, Nathaniel3, John2, John1), son of Solomon8 and Sarah (Chase) Whitney, was born 5 Oct 1857, Little Compton, RI.
He married, Mar 1879, Abbie L. Browning.
Willard Armes Whitney was born in Little Compton, Rhode Island, 5 Oct 1857; went to Kansas with his father in spring of 1866, being then nine years old past; attended district school at College Hill schoolhouse until he was able to enter the State Agricultural college at Manhattan, where he studied two years, standing well in his classes and grading well.
