James M.6 Whitney (Jacob5, Benjamin4, John3, Benjamin2, John1), son of Jacob5 and Hannah (Mills) Whitney, was born 9 Oct 1790, Phillips, ME,[1] and died after 1850.
He married, Reliance (?Hinckley?). She was born about 1793, ME, and died said, 16 Oct 1854, but found in 1870 census.
He was in the war of 1812; resided Phillips, ME, and Wrightstown, WI.
In 1851, James M. Whitney is recorded buying land in Brown Co., WI. In the 1855 Wisconsin State Census, he is recorded in Wrightstown, WI with 2 white females. The females are in all likelihood his wife Reliance and granddaughter Rebecca.
