Albertus B. F.8 Whitney (Billa7, Christopher6, William5, William4, William3, Joshua2, John1), son of Billa7 and Clarinda (French) Whitney, was born 11 Jul 1820, and died after 1880, Buffalo, NY.
He married, before 1855, Annie E. -----. She was born about 1837, NY, and died after 1880. Apparently there was a divorce after 1870, because they both appear in the 1880 census, he listed as "married", and she remarried to Jonathan Pratt.
He had children living in California. He was interested in the manufacture of dental goods.
In 1855 he was listed as a member of a Masonic Lodge, Erie Lodge, No. 161, Buffalo, Erie Co., NY.[1]
In 1862, "A. B. F. Whitney" of Port Byron, NY, paid IRS excise taxes on a "necromancer".[2] On 25 Jun 1863, "Albertus B. F. Whitney" of Port Byron, NY, paid IRS excise taxes on a "mechanical necromancer".[3] In Jan 1865, "A. B. F. Whitney" of Williamston, MI, paid IRS excise taxes on "showman receipts".[4] In Feb 1865, "A. B. F. Whitney" of Lansing, MI, paid IRS excise taxes on "showman receipts".[5] In Mar 1865, "A. B. F. Whitney" of MI paid IRS excise taxes on "showman receipts".[6] In 1866, "A. B. F. Whitney" of Greencastle, IN, paid IRS excise taxes on "public exhibition".[7]
