John William Whitney (Horace Selden), son of Horace Selden and Lucinda (Cole) Whitney), was born 28 Dec 1839, Erie Co., PA, and died 25 Sep 1932, either El Centro, Imperial Co., CA, or Ludlow, IL.
He married firstly, 8 Oct 1872, De Witt Co., IL, Sarah Ellen Yazel. She was born May 1852, IL, and died 1910.
He married secondly, after 1910, Maria Horton.
John and Sarah are buried in Ludlow Cemetery, Ludlow, IL.
