Family:Whitney, Himan T. Connor (1842-1908)

Himan T. Connor⁸ Whitney (Abel⁷, Elijah⁶, Elijah⁵, Elijah⁴, Isaiah³, Thomas², John¹), son of Abel⁷ and Mary Lunt (Conner) Whitney, was born 30 Mar 1842, Worcester, VT,^[1] and died 18 Oct 1908, Hartford, VT, aged 66 years 6 months 18 days, of cerebral hemorrhage.^[2] He was buried in Oak Hill Cemetery, Lawrence, KS.^[3]

In various records his given name is rendered as Himan, Heman, Heiman, Herman, Hirman, Hinman, and even Hiram.

He "of Irasburg" married firstly, 28 Nov 1866, Irasburg, VT, Margaret C. Whipple, daughter of Alexander S. and Phebe A. (Cobb) Whipple.^[4] She was born about 11 Jul 1842, Morristown, VT, and died 5 Jul 1890, Montpelier, VT, aged 48 years 11 months 24 days, of cancer on uterus.^[5]

He married secondly, 1 Jul 1892, VT, Lilla E. (Clark) Bancroft, daughter of Almon L. and Betsey (Gilbert) Clark. She was born 16 Mar 1863, Groton, VT, and died 17 Apr 1938, Concord, NH.^[6] She had married firstly, 27 Jun 1883, Groton, MA, Henry R. Bancroft.

He served as a Musician, Co. I, 13th Vermont Infantry, in the Civil War. He applied from Vermont for an invalid pension on 3 Jul 1888, Application # 665,358, Certificate # 480,348. His widow Lilla E. Whitney applied from Vermont for a widow's pension on 9 Nov 1908, Application # 907,687, Certificate # 676,386.^[7]
