Eliza Whitney (Hiram), daughter of Hiram and Mary Ann (Harris) Whitney,[1] was born about 1810, Kentucky, and died 15 may 1848. [2] She married first, 12 April 1829 [3], in Trigg County Kentucky, William Murray, as his second wife. He was born between 1775 and 1794 and died, 25 August 1842, in Caldwell County, Kentucky.[4] She married second, Archibald H. Cooper, after 1842, in Caldwell County, Kentucky. He was born about 1810, in Tennessee. [5]

An ACT for the benefit of Archibald H. and Eliza Cooper. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky that Archibald H. Cooper and Eliza, his wife, be, and they are hereby permitted to remove with them to the State of Mississippi the slaves of William Murray, deceased, former husband of sail Eliza Cooper, allotted to the said Eliza as her dower interest of said Eliza in the estate of said William Murray.... : Provided, That Archibald H. Cooper shall before such removal, execute a bond in a sufficient penalty, with three of more good and sufficient securities, to the heirs of said Murray to be approved by the County Court of Caldwell County....also, not to sell the slaves of their increase. Approved January 12, 1843. [6]

Archibald H. Cooper entered government land 2/26/1846 in Coahoma County, Mississippi. Actual purchase date was probably several years earlier. This may have been a remote plantation and not intended as a permanent residence since Archibald H. Cooper's home, in 1850, is noted on the census records to have been District 2, Caldwell County, Kentucky. [7]
