Herman S.8 Whitney (William S.7, Eli6, Zebulon5, Abel4, Nathaniel3, Benjamin2, John1), son of William S.7 and Abigail (Morton) Whitney, was born 27 Jul 1847, Gorham, ME, and died 2 Feb 1906, Gorham, ME.
b. 27 Jul 1847, Gorham, ME; d. 2 Feb 1906, Gorham, ME; m.(1) Flavilla Augusta "Willa" Berry; m.(2) Hellen Aitchison Plaisted.
He married firstly, (intentions 23 Sep 1869, Standish, ME), Flavilla Augusta "Willa" Berry, daughter of Asa and Hannah (Moore) Berry. She was born 30 Dec 1847, Standish, ME, and died 7 Nov 1873, Gorham, ME.
He married secondly, Hellen Aitchison Plaisted. She was born 11 Sep 1852, and died 1927.
Herman, Flavilla, and Hellen are all buried in the North Street Cemetery in Gorham, ME
Herman is found in the censuses of 1850 through 1870 living in Gorham, where for many years he was employed as an overseer at the pulp mill plant at Little Falls in Gorham.
