Ens. Abner⁵ Whitney (Jonas⁴, Eleazar³, Thomas², John¹), son of Jonas⁴ and Sarah (Perry) Whitney was born 17 Nov 1744 at Roxbury, MA^[1] and died 6 Jan 1826 at Windsor, VT, at age 81^[2].

Abner married Esther Jackson 21 Mar 1768 at Newton, MA; husband "of Roxbury", wife "of Newton;".

He From Pierce: "He was born either in Newton or Roxbury, probably the former place [actually Roxbury - in VR's]. When the Revolutionary War broke out, he enlisted in the company commanded by Capt. Wiswell, raised in Newton, and was at once promoted to sergeant. Later in the war he was serving as an ensign (or second lieutenant). He was granted a pension Apr. 13, 1818, and at that time he was residing in Windsor Co., VT, where he died 6 Jan 1826, ae. 81."**R. L. Ward, in his 6-Gen s. He BIR-DEA: 'Whitney Genealogy' 'Res. viii.	Isaac Whitney, b. 3 Jun 1782 at Stoddard, NH; m. Polly (--?--) circa 1803; d. 16 Dec 1868 at age 86. He 'Had a son David who had sons, Isaac and James, and res. in Elmore.'
ix.	Jacob Whitney, b. 2 May 1784 at Stoddard, NH; b. 2 May 1784 at Springfield, VT; m. Lucy Adams 11 Nov 1810 at New Salem, MA; d. 30 Apr 1824 at New Salem, MA, at age 39; aged 40 years. He Shown as "of Orange" in the marriage notice in the New Salem VR's. He BIR: 'Whitney Genealogy.'
