Horace7 Whitney (Ezra6, Ezra5, John4, Isaiah3, Thomas2, John1), son of Ezra6 and Sally (Hooker) Whitney, was born 7 Sep 1787, Athens Township, Windham Co., VT, and died 14 Mar 1869, probably Burns, NY, aged 80 years 6 months 7 days. He was buried in Canaseraga Cemetery, Burns, NY.

On 8 Aug 1809, Horace was involved in a land transaction in Rockingham, Windham Co, VT.

At a town meeting held 10 March 1817, Horace Whitney was one of twelve men elected "for Heyward for the town of Rockingham". A "hayward" is an official in charge of public fencing and impounding stray animals.

He married, 27 Mar 1817, Rockingham, Windham Co., VT, Hannah Towne, daughter of John and Hannah (Russell) Towne. She was born about 9 May 1795, MA, and died 15 Jun 1851, aged 76 years 1 month 6 days. She was buried in Canaseraga Cemetery, Burns, NY.

He moved with his parents and siblings from the family home in Vermont to Allegany County, NY, in 1817.

In 1820, Horace Whitney and his family were enumerated in Orcean (Ossian) Township, Allegany Co. (now Livingston Co), NY. The family consisted of 1 male 26-45, 1 female 16-26, and 1 female 0-10. One person was engaged in agriculture.

In 1830, Horace Whitney and his family were enumerated in Burns Township, Allegany Co., NY. The family consisted of 1 male 40-50 [Horace], 2 males 5-10 [Norton, Stedmand], 1 female 30-40 [Hannah], and 3 females 0-5 [unknown, Helen, Weltha].

In 1840, Horace Whitney and his family were enumerated in Burns Township, Allegany Co., NY. The family consisted of 1 male 50-60 [Horace], 2 males 15-20 [Norton, Stedmond], 1 female 40-50 [Hannah], 1 female 15-20 [unknown], 2 females 10-15 [Hellen, Weltha], 2 females 5-10 [Alzina, Luthera], and 1 female 0-5 [Louisa]. Four people were engaged in agriculture.

In 1850, Horace Whitney and his family were enumerated in Burns Township, Allegany Co., NY. Horace owned $3000, Stedman owned $1800.
