John Olney7 Whitney (Whitford6, Asa5, Matthias4, Cornelius3, Joshua2, John1), son of Whitford6 and Mehitabel (Hopkins) Whitney, was born about 26 May 1828, CT or RI, and died 2 Jan 1901, Putnam, CT.

He married, 30 Apr 1849, Frances Caroline Bowen, daughter of Rensselaer and Caroline (Heth) Bowen. She was born 11 Dec 1828, Killingly, CT, and died 1 May 1913, Putnam, CT.

i. John F.8 Whitney, b. ca. 1848, CT. He may have been born before their marriage, or may have been adopted. He apparently died soon after having m. say 1882, Lucy L.
