John C.8 Whitney (Caleb Boyington7, Amaziah6, Abner5, John4, Isaiah3, Thomas2, John1), son of Caleb Boyington7 and Adocia (Stevens) Whitney, was born 9 Jul 1842, Maine Village, Broome Co., NY, and died 24 Jul 1863, Alto, Lee Co., IL.

John C. Whitney never married, and died of disease as a result of his service in Company B, 127th Regiment of Illinois Infantry in the Civil War. His mother, father, and his father's widow all applied for pension benefits as a result of his service and resulting death.
