John⁶ Whitney (Joseph⁵, Joseph⁴, Joseph³, Jonathan², John¹), son of Joseph⁵ and Mary (Woods) Whitney, was born 4 May 1795, Acworth, NH, and died 1 Nov 1869, Chelsea, VT.

He married firstly, 27 Aug 1818, Chelsea, VT, Polly Lewis.^[1] She was born Mar 1795, and died Jul 1838.

He "of Chelsea" married secondly, 7 Mar 1839, Tunbridge, VT, Betsey⁷ Whitney,^[2] daughter of David⁶ and Susanna (Huntington) Whitney. She was born 9 Aug 1794, Tunbridge, VT, and died after 1860.

He was a farmer. He resided Chelsea, VT.
