Joshua Whitney, parentage unknown, was born circa 1770, MA, and died 25 Apr 1852, Moria, NY.

He married Mary ------, parentage unknown, born circa 1773, CT, and died 19 Mar 1855, Moria, NY.

The birth date of Joshua is somewhat uncertain. Generally, the census records would indicate he was born circa 1770. However, his headstone indicates he was 86 at the time of death which would indicate he was born circa 1766. Joshua's wife's headstone reflects the name Mary, but she was identified as Polly in the 1850 census.

There is no direct proof that Lucy was the daughter of Joshua and Mary other than the presence of a female of her age in the 1820 census and her husband resided in Moria, NY prior to their marriage. The unidentified son is also speculation based upon the 1820 census.
