Dr. Grove Dutton8 Whitney (Alvin L.7, James6, Cornelius5, Matthias4, Cornelius3, Joshua2, John1), son of Alvin L.7 and Betsey (Cook) Whitney; born Pavilion, New York, 8 May 1842; married at Rochester, Michigan, 23 Dec 1867, Rebecca Brown8 Whitney, his first cousin, daughter of Luther Day7 and Aroline (Perrin) Whitney, born 11 Oct 1843.
He is a doctor; studied medicine at University of Michigan 1865-70. Served as a private in Company A, 140th Regiment New York State Volunteers; was in many engagements and twice wounded; discharged 3 Jul 1865; resided Pavilion, New York.
