William Warren Whitney (Daniel), son of Daniel C. and Rachel White (Miller) Whitney, was born 1836 or 1837, Hamilton, OH, and died 24 Sep 1879, Capioma, KS, aged 45 years of consumption.[1] He was buried in the Ford Cemetery, southeast of Seneca, KS.
He married, firstly, 4 Mar 1855, Pulaski Co., IN, Sarah Ann Walden, daughter of Josiah and Sarah (Bare) Walden. She was born 2 Mar 1835, Dearborn Co., IN, and died before 1857.
He married, secondly, 6 Dec 1857, Pulaski Co., IN, Lucinda Walden, daughter of Josiah and Sarah (Bare) Walden. She was born 20 Nov 1837, Dearborn Co., IN, and died before 1867.
He married, thirdly, Oct 1867, Pulaski Co., IN, Mary E. Walden, daughter of Josiah and Sarah (Bare) Walden. She was born 20 Feb 1844, Dearborn Co., IN, and died 14 Feb 1880, Capioma, KS, aged 36 years of consumption.[2]
He resided Pulaski Co., IN in the 1860's.
He resided Medaryville, IN.
He served in the 9th Indiana Infantry in the Civil War.
Military Record: 5' 9 1/2", Blue or Grey Eyes, Black Hair, dark Complextion. Served with 9th Indiana Infantry, 22 Jul 1862 to 18 Oct 1865. Lost Fingers off Left hand in accident during Shiloh Battle, and lost sight from right eye in accident during siege of Atlanta. Court martialed for desertion Jun 1863. Returned to duty Aug 1863 and honorably discharged. Speculation: first wife may have died during war, as reason for desertion.
Josiah Walden moved with his family to Seneca, Nemaha, Kansas, some time after the civil war.
William Warren and Sarah Ann (Walden) Whitney had no known children.
