Family:Whitney, Kimball (1810-1894)

Kimball⁸ Whitney (Otis⁷, Solomon⁶, Solomon⁵, Nathaniel⁴, Nathaniel³, John², John¹), son of Otis⁷ and Sarah (Taylor) Whitney, was born 26 Oct 1810, Campton, NH (see Notes below), and died 16 Mar 1894, Plymouth, NH, aged 83 years 4 months 16 days, of hydrothorax. She is buried in Trinity Churchyard Cemetery, Holderness, NH.^[1]

He, of Campton, NH, married, 13 Oct 1833, Bristol, NH, Eliza Johnson,^[2] of Bridgewater, NH, daughter of Moses and Polly (Elliot) Johnson. She was born 1 Jan 1808, Salisbury, NH, and died 19 July 1900, Plymouth, NH.^[3] She is buried in Trinity Churchyard Cemetery, Holderness, NH.^[4]

They first lived in Campton, but moved to Bridgewater about 1838. About 1845 they moved to Bristol and lived there until about 1847, when they moved back to Campton.

Eliza moved to Plymouth after the death of her husband in 1894 and she lived with Polly and Manson Brown until her death at the age of 92 in July 1900.

He was a farmer and carpenter. He resided in Campton and Bristol until 1872 when he purchased the Blair farm in the Lower Intervale section of Plymouth. His son-in-law, Manson Brown, later purchased this property.

"Mr. Kimball Whitney and wife, parents of Mrs. Mason Brown, and living in the same house with their daughter, are hale and serene at fourscore. The grip made an attack upon them last winter, but they were victors and came to spring time with songs of gladness." --The Plymouth Record, May 28, 1892, p. 8.

i.	Ann Polly Elliot9 Whitney, b. 24 May 1835, Campton, NH; d. 29 May 1903, Plymouth, NH; m. 19 Apr 1859, Campton, NH, Manson S. Brown.[5] She is buried in Trinity Churchyard Cemetery, Holderness, NH.[6] She was not in her parents' family in 1850.
ii.	Sarah T.9 Whitney, b. 10 Apr 1838, Campton, NH; d. 2 Apr 1893, Plymouth, NH, aged 54 years 11 months 22 days, of angina pectoris; unmarried. She is buried in Trinity Churchyard Cemetery, Holderness, NH.[7] "Sarah T. Whitney, daughter of Kimball and Eliza Johnson Whitney and sister of Mrs. M.S. Brown, fell peacefully asleep in Jesus on Easter Sunday, the 2d day of April 1893, a fitting day to enter her heavenly home where tears are never shed and sorrow never comes. Her presence will be greatly and sadly missed by her aged parents, her sister and may friends. No more will she have with them words of comfort or gladden them by her cheerful presence. She was a true and sincere friend, ever doing what her health would admit for their comfort and happiness. She has now crossed the dark river to the golden shore to meet the loved ones who have crossed before. Now she has passed beyond this veil of tears and her chair is vacant but memory will ever recall her worth and many virtues. "The funeral was attended from the house of M.S. Brown Wednesday the 5th. The many relatives, friends and neighbors testified by their presence the respect and esteem whey felt for her memory. The services were short but impressive, Rev. Mr. Miller officiating. The venerable parents and Mrs. Brown, the only surviving sister of the departed were all very near relatives present, but numerous other friends, relatives and neighbors were there to honor her memory. Mr. Martin Merrill, Mrs. Dr. Rogers, Mrs. Henry Currier and wife sang." --The Ashland Citizen, April 8, 1893. "The sudden death of Sarah T. Whitney occurred early this week at her late home at Glove Hollow., aged 55 years. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Kimball Whitney. Her funeral was attended from the home of Hon. Manson Brown Wednesday at 10 o'clock in the forenoon. The venerable parents of Mrs. Brown, the only surviving sister of the departed, were the only near relatives present and numerous other friends, relatives and neighbors were there to honor her memory. Mr. Martin Merrill, Mrs. Dr. Rogers, Mr. Henry Currier and wife sang, Rev. Joseph A. Brown, brother of Manson Brown, a member of the New Hampshire Methodist Conference and long time acquaintance of the deceased paid a pleasant tribute to her moral worth and useful life." --The Ashland Citizen', April 8, 1893, p. 2.
iii.	Emma J. Whitney, b. 8 Jan 1844, Bristol, NH; d. 14 Jul 1878, Campton, NH, aged 34 years, of consumption; unmarried. She is buried in Trinity Churchyard Cemetery, Holderness, NH.[8] In 1870 she is listed as an invalid.

It seems likely that he was identical with his putative brother Paul Whitney, also born 26 Oct 1810, Campton, NH.
