Alden A.7 Whitney (Abel6, Elijah5, Elijah4, Isaiah3, Thomas2, John1), son of Abel6 Phebe (Hopkins) Whitney, was born 22 Aug 1822, VT, and died 14 Jul 1909, Dallas Co., IA.[1] Another record says je was born 26 Aug 1821, and died 17 Jul 1909, Adel, Dallas Co., IA, aged 87 years, farmer, widowed, son of Abel Whitney.[2] He was buried in Longmire Cemetery, Dallas Co., IA. His inscription reads "Alden Whitney | Aug. 22, 1922 - Jul. 14, 1909".[3]
He married firstly, 14 Sep 1847, Williamstown, VT, Mary Emeline White.[4] She was born about 1829, VT, and died after 1860.
He married secondly, 19 Sep 1865, St. Joseph Co., IN, Mary A. (Castleton) Ream. She was born 23 Oct 1838, OH, and died 1 Jan 1889. She is buried in Longmire Cemetery, Dallas Co., IA.[5]
He married thirdly, 17 Aug 1879, Dallas Co., IA, Martha (Ollum) Harrison.[6] She was born 25 Mar 1829, OH, and died after 1900. She had married firstly, 25 Jul 1845, PA, Lewis Martin Harrison.
He received a pension as an invalid soldier in the Civil War, having served as 1st Sergeant, Co. H, 12th Indiana Cavalry, beginning 11 Mar 1907, until his death on 15 Jul 1909, Certificate No. 52071, former roll No. 23879. His address was Adel, IA.[7]
