Phineas W.8 Whitney (Phineas7, Levi6, Abel5, Nathan4, Nathaniel3, Benjamin2, John1), son of Phineas7 and Hannah B. (Lowell) Whitney, was born 17 May 1844, Portland, ME, and died 29 Jul 1917 at the Soldiers Home, Chelsea, MA.
He married, 7 Sep 1867, Portland, ME, Maria Emery Westcott, daughter of Alexander G. and Sarah E. (Strout) Westcott. She was born about 6 Sep 1839, Gorham, ME, and died 16 Feb 1880, Chelsea, MA, aged 36 years 5 months, of pneumonia.[1]
Phineas was a Civil War veteran, and received a pension from the U.S. Government.

i. Charles Franklin9 Whitney, b. 18 Sep 1869, Portland, ME; m. Edna C. Laduc/Laduke. ii. Eva May Whitney, b. 18 Apr 1871 (twin), Chelsea, MAl;[2] m. 4 Oct 1892, Somerville, MA, William O'Day, or Willian Davis, b. ca. 1870, PA, son of Thomas and Margaret (O'Day) Davis.[3] By an unknown father she had an illegitimate son: i. (son)10 Whitney, b. 21 Aug 1890, Boston, MA.[4]
iii. Lillian Maria Whitney, b. 18 Apr 1871 (twin), Chelsea, MA;[5] not in family in 1880. iv. Sarah M. Whitney, b. 20 Dec 1873, Chelsea, MA;[6] "Marion S." m.(1) 14 Oct 1896, Boston, MA, James Stuart, b. ca. 1875, Boston, MA, son of Andrew and Margaret (-----) Stuart;[7] they were divorced; m.(2) 11 Aug 1907, Boston, MA, Frederick L. Turner, b. ca. 1861, Brighton, MA, son of John H. and Sarah A. (Thomas) Turner.[8] v. Phineas Whitney, b. 14 May 1877, Chelsea, MA;[9] d. after 1880.
