Family:Whitney, John (1806-1873)

John⁸ Whitney (Joseph Glazier⁷, Abner⁶, Samuel⁵, William⁴, Nathaniel³, John², John¹), son of Joseph Glazier⁷ and Levina (Dunn) Whitney, was born 12 Sep 1806, Ashburnham, MA, and died 4 May 1873.

He "of Westminster" married 9 May 1832, Ashburnham, MA, Eliza Cushing.^[1] She was born 18 Apr 1815, and died 1 Sep 1882.

John Whitney, son of Joseph G. and Lavina (Dunn) Whitney. He resided some years in Westminster and subsequently in Ashburnham, where he was a pioneer manufacturer of chairs. In his daily life and in business he ignored contention and enjoyed the rewards of peace and honorable conduct. He resided Westminster and Ashburnham, MA.

i.	Stephen C.9 Whitney, b. 4 Jul 1833; m. 14 Apr 1861, Achsah I. May; b. 5 Jul 1839. Enlisted in 53d Regt. and died New Orleans, LA, 20 Feb 1863. She resided in Templeton, MA.
ii.	Eliza C. Whitney, b. 25 Jul 1835; d. 13 Jul 1837.
iii.	Joseph Whitney, b. 15 Jun 1838; d. 26 Nov 1838.
iv.	Wilbur Fisk Whitney, b. 9 Dec 1839; m. Emeline S. Jewell.
v.	John Edwin Whitney, b. 28 Oct 1841; d. 21 Nov 1856.
vi.	Timothy Merritt Whitney, b. 2 Dec 1844; d. 22 Nov 1856.
vii.	George Edward Whitney, b. 20 Apr 1847; d. 30 Oct 1880, unmarried.
viii.	Orange Whitney, b. 16 Mar 1849; m. Laura M. Collester.
ix.	Sarah A. Whitney, b. 4 Oct 1850; m. 20 Feb 1878, George H. Clapp; resided Greenfield.
x.	Arthur Melville Whitney, b. 4 Oct 1853; unmarried; resided Grand Rapids.
xi.	Alfred H. Whitney, b. 14 Jun 1856; m. Susie W. Davis.
