Rufus6 Whitney (Tarball5, Solomon4, David3, Joshua2, John1), son of Tarball5 and Lois (Lawrence)(Hopkins) Whitney, was born 18 Dec 1796, Poultney, VT, and died 22 Jan 1861.

He married, 19 May 1839, Laura Maria Picket. She was born 8 Oct 1819.

They resided Almond, NY.

Children of Rufus6 and Laura Maria (Picket) Whitney:

i. Albert Russell7 Whitney, b. 19 Sep 1840, d. 5 Nov 1864; m. Sarah Treat. He served in the Union Army in the war of 1861, was captured by the rebels and died from disease contracted in Andersonville prison pen while on his way home, 5 Nov 1864. Had a son, Lewis R., who at one time resided at Almond.
ii. Edwin Henry Whitney, b. 21 Sep 1842; m. Adelia Perry.
