There were several families in Missouri and Arkansas that had children named Wade Whitney who appear to have been related.

Note that Wade Hampton was a famous Revolutionary War hero from South Carolina. His grandson, also named Wade Hampton, was a Brigadier-General in the Civil War.

• John Whitney, b. ca. 1814, MO, m. Elinder, resided Polk Co., MO & Independence Co., AR. He was a grandson of Family:Whitney, Joseph (s1765-a1837) of Howard Co., MO. He was perhaps the brother of Family:Whitney, William (1827-a1859).
• James Whitney, b. ca. 1822, MO, resided Dallas Co., MO, had a son Wade H. Whitney
• Tolbert Whitney, b. ca. 1823 or 1833, MO, resided Barry Co., MO, had a son Wade Whitney. He was perhaps related to Family:Whitney, Joseph (c1812-1869) of Barry Co., MO
• Wade H. Whitney, b. ca. 1827, m. Melissa Combs, resided Holt Co., MO, and Richardson Co., NE. He was perhaps related to Family:Whitney, Thomas J. (1819-b1860)
• Thomas J. Whitney, b. ca. 1845, MO, resided Holt Co., MO & Richardson Co., NE. Had a son Wade Whitney.
• Wade Whitney, of MS & Indian Territory, m. Susan -----, supposedly a Choctaw Indian. Their son William Whitney m. ----- -----, a full-blooded Choctaw Indian, b. Doaksville, Choctaw Nation. Their children were James H. Whitney and Emily J. Whitney, m. 1872, Sherman, TX Nathan B, Zumwalt.
