Family:Whitney, Samuel (1784-1869)

Samuel Whitney, (Ebenezer, [perhaps] Samuel⁴, John³, Benjamin², John¹), son of Ebenezer and Huldah (Mooers) Whitney, was born 18 Sep 1784, Sheffield, NB, and died 12 May 1869, Whitney, NB, at age 84. He was buried in St. Stephen's Cemetery, Red Bank, NB.

He married, 19 Jun 1806, NB, Sarah Young. She was born 19 Sep 1786, St. John River, NB, and died 3 Feb 1868, Whitney, NB. She was buried in St. Stephen's Cemetery, Red Bank, NB.

Samuel Whitney lived at Whitney, Northumberland Co., NB, Canada. He received money from Miramichi Fire Relief fund, 1825. Served in King's New Brunswick Regiment, about 1803. He lived in Miramichi between 60 and 70 years. His descendants claim that he lost a leg in the woods and was a 'peg-legged' man thereafter.
