James M.⁶ Whitney (Jacob⁵, Benjamin⁴, John³, Benjamin², John¹), son of Jacob⁵ and Hannah (Mills) Whitney, was born 9 Oct 1790, Phillips, ME, and died after 1850.

He married, Reliance (?Hinckley?). She was born about 1793, ME, and died 16 Oct 1854.

He was in the war of 1812; resided Phillips, ME, and Appleton, WI.
