Joseph H.7 Whitney (Stephen6, Stephen5, Isaac4, Nathaniel3, Benjamin2, John1), son of Stephen6 and Abigail (Mayberry) Whitney, was born 7 Apr 1832, Mechanic Falls, ME, and died 4 Jan 1897, New Haven, CT.
He married 6 Jul 1851, Hannah Caswell Montfort, daughter of Amos and Sarah (Field) Montfort. She was born 30 Mar 1831, Lisbon, ME, and died 7 Oct 1871, South Meriden, CT.
Children of Joseph H.7 and Hannah Caswell (Montfort) Whitney:
i. Sarah E.8 Whitney, b. ca. 1852, prob. Westbrook, ME. ii. Edwin L. Whitney, b. ca. 1855, prob. Westbrook, ME; is it he in the 1880 census of Poland, ME? iii. Imogene Whitney, b. 19 Dec 1862, South Meriden, CT; d. 21 Oct 1913, Newington, CT; m. 4 Sep 1895 Raymond Howard Willoughby. Census: - 1870, she is called "Emma J. Whitney"

- 1910, she is called "Emmajean Willoughby"
One could conclude that she was known as Imogene or Emmajean within the family, or Emma is a nickname for Imogene.
