Jonathan Whitney (Moses, Ebenezer, [perhaps] Samuel4, John3, Benjamin2, John1), son of Moses and Esther (Sherwood) Whitney, was born 28 Nov 1806, Miramichi, NB, died 7 Jul 1880, and was buried Hodgdon Cemetery, Hodgdon, ME.

He married, 21 Mar 1837, Hodgdon, ME, Elmira Foster. She was born about 1801, NB (but allegedly 31 Jan 1821), and died 4 Oct 1858, Hodgdon, ME.

Children of Jonathan and Elmira (Foster) Whitney:

i. Charles W. Whitney, b. ca. 1842, ME; d. after 1880; m. Susan E. Yerxa.
ii. George B. Whitney, b. ca. 1846, ME; d. after 1880, then unmarried.
