Russell Velasco9 Whitney (Torrey8, Moses7, Samuel6, Samuel5, Nathaniel4, Nathaniel3, John2, John1), born Gibson, Pennsylvania, 29 Jan 1832; married 24 Dec 1852, Melissa C. Wheaton, born 15 Jun 1830.
Russell Velasco Whitney is a farmer in Thompson, Pennsylvania. For some time he was in the grocery business with his son-in-law at Susquehanna, Pennsylvania. During the war was Sergt. In the 17th Pennsylvania. Cavalry; resided Thompson, Pennsylvania.

i. Ella A.10 Whitney, born 9 Apr 1854; married 15 Jun 1879, Edwin J. Mathews, born 13 Mar 1854. Is a marble dealer in Susquehanna, Pennsylvania; is Supt. Of the M. E. Sunday school. - Ch.: Ruth E., born 15 Mar 1884; Ina L., born 24 Sep 1889.
ii. William M. Whitney, born 21 Oct 1855; married Ida E. Hamlin. iii. Edwin S. Whitney, born 15 Feb 1862; married Emma E. Larrabee.
