John Seth Whitney, born circa 1789, Halifax, New Brunswick, Canada, died 9 Oct 1871, Mornington Township, Perth County, Ontario. He was supposedly the son of a Josiah Whitney and may have been identical to Seth6 Whitney, son of Josiah5 and Hannah (Turner) Whitney.
He married, say 1817, Elinor Ann Hunter, born circa 1791, and died Shakespeare, Ontario, Canada. She was buried in Bell's Cemetery, North East Hope, Ontario.
Children of John Seth and Elinor Ann (Hunter) Whitney:
i. Josiah Whitney, born 1819, Massisska County, Quebec, died 1857, Shakespeare, Ontario. He married Elizabeth Mary Anderson, 1848, Shakespeare, Ontario. She was born 1828. ii. Sarah Jemima Whitney, born 1823, Massisska County, Quebec, died 20 Jul 1906, Mornington Township, Perth County, Ontario. iii. Matthew Lang Whitney, born 1825, Massisska County, Quebec, died 25 Feb 1900, Milverton, Ontario. He married Helen Barr. She was born 1839, Scotland, died 23 Jun 1929, Stratford, Ontario. iv. John Guyan Whitney, born Oct 1830, Massisska County, Quebec, died 16 Sep 1891, Mornington Township, Perth County, Ontario. He married Janet Hunter. She was born 1836, and died 1862. He married Rebecca Jane Coulter 31 Oct 1866. Mornington Township, Perth County, Ontario, daughter of John Coulter. She was born May 1848, Ontario, and died 9 Dec 1874, Mornington Township, Perth County, Ontario. v. Noah Whitney, born May 1833, Stanbridge. He was bp. Stanbridge East by minister Matthew Lang.
Notes
One of this couples' descendants has been DNA tested and is an exact 25-marker match to the reconstructed DNA signature profile of the immigrant John Whitney of Watertown, MA.
