William Whitney of Springfield

Robert:

On 6/15/2008 you added a death date for William Whitney, son of Luke Whitney. I have identified this man as almost certainly the man in the 1850 census in Springfield, with wife Caroline and sister Eliza. He was listed as a soapmaker. We believe him to be the same man as the William Whitney, tallow chandler / soap candle maker who was born in MA and moved to Kalamazoo, MI. However, if you've found evidence that he died in MA, then we must be incorrect. Could you check to see where this death date came from and how sure you are that this is the correct identification?

For further details see my posts on User talk:Candlemaker.
