Henry James7 Whitney (James M.6, Jacob5, Benjamin4, John3, Benjamin2, John1), son of James M.6 and Reliance (?Hinckley?) Whitney, was born about 1831, ME, and died 1 June 1889 in Necedah, Juneau Co., WI
He married firstly, before 1854, Jane -----. She was born about 1837, Ireland, and died 12 October 1867 in Kaukauna, Outagamie Co., WI
They resided Appleton, WI. He m. secondly Elizabeth "Betsey" (Steele) Allen, the widow of Charles B. Allen, who died in the army in the Civil War.
James and Betsey were m. 21 October 1869 at Fort Atkinson, Jefferson Co., WI. Betsey was b. 26 January 1836 in Londondery, Ireland, the daughter of John and Betsey Steele.
She d. 15 December 1893 in Necedah, WI. She is buried in the North Necedah Cemetery.
They resided in Fort Atkinson and Necedah, WI. James was a carpenter, and served in the Civil War in Co. G, 3rd Wisconsin Volunteer Infantry. He received a pension for his service and disability.
