James Foster7 Whitney (Lemuel6, Joseph5, Timothy4, John3, John2, John1), son of Lemuel6 and Sally (Pratt) Whitney; born Warwick, Massachusetts, 12 Sep 1808; married at Charleston, Illinois, Elizabeth S. Morton.
He was born in Warwick, Massachusetts, the only son of Lemuel and Sally (Pratt) Whitney, and in his youth resided in Ohio. With his parents he moved to Charleston, Coles County, Illinois, where he was married. He wa a merchant engaged in general business, and died when 42 years of age. He died 14 Aug 1850; res., Charleston, Illinois.

Ames, She died 12 Aug 1886; resided Mattoon, Illinois. He was born 16 Nov 1840; is a farmer. - Ch.: William H., born 11 Jul 1865; Charles F., born 1 Jan 1867; Mary O., born 13 Oct 1870; Harry D., born February 20, 1877; Gertrude, born 14 Sep 1883; William H., died 15 Jun 1890; Charles F., married April 10, 1889.
