Elijah⁷ Whitney (Daniel⁶, Elijah⁵, Daniel⁴, John³, John², John¹), son of Daniel⁶ and Sarah (Gay) Whitney, was born 16 Jan 1771, Boston, MA,^[1] baptized 20 Jan 1771, Roxbury, MA,^[2] and died 11 Jan 1829, Boston, MA, aged 58 years.^[3]

He "of Brookline" married, 14 Mar 1798, Newton, MA, Margaret⁷ Whitney "of Newton",^[4] daughter of Timothy⁶ and Mary (Hyde) Whitney. She was born about Jan 1777, and died 22 Feb 1861, Vernon Street, Roxbury, MA, aged 84 years 1 month, of old age.^[5]

v.	Catherine A. Whitney, b. ca. 1812, Boston, MA; d. 9 Mar 1886, Boston, MA, aged 74, of paralysis;[13] "of Watertown" m. 17 Jun 1832, Newton, MA, John Rowley;[14] resided 10 Langdon St., Boston, MA. They were living in Roxbury, MA, in 1850, without children.
vi.	Sarah A. Whitney, b. ca. 1816, MA; d. 17 Nov 1853, Watertown, MA, of consumption;[15]unmarried.

Notes

There is no direct evidence to include Clotilda as a child in this family. However, in the 1810 census there was one female 10-15 (Mary), and 2 females 0-9 (Margaret and ?). Catherine and Sarah hadn't yet been born. Also, the DAR cemetery transcription for Common Street Cemetery in Watertown lists first Charles Fisher (Clotilda's husband), then Elijah, Margaret and Sarah Whitney, followed by Clotilda, and finally Sarah Hagar (Margaret's daughter). This presents a strong case that Clotilda is a child in this family.
