Jacob Whitney (Eli Whitney), son of Eli and Catherine (Longyear) Whitney, was born 5 Dec 1821, Shandaken, Ulster Co., NY, and died 12 Feb 1899, Shandaken, NY. (His gravestone has 1898.)

He married, 22 Aug 1846, Elizabeth Bradstreet, daughter of William and Bridget (Redmond) Bradstreet. She was born 25 Apr 1824, Ulster, Ulster Co., NY, and died 20 Sep 1907.

Jacob was a farmer and an inn keeper, and was a member of the Methodist Church, Shandaken. He and his wife are buried in Shandaken Rural Cemetery. Two of their unmarried children's names--Elizabeth M. and Angeline D.--appear on the same gravestone with their parents.
