James D.7 Whitney (Daniel Hobbs6, Joshua5, Joshua4, Joshua3, Benjamin2, John1), son of Daniel Hobbs6 and Irene (Morse) Whitney, was born about 1816, Medway or Wrentham, MA, and died 9 May 1875, Pelham, MA, aged 59 years, of phemonia, married, blacksmith.[1]

He married, 21 Jul 1836, West Boylston, MA, Submit Cutting,[2] daughter of Joseph and Anna (Ball) Cutting. She was born 27 Jun 1812, Marlborough, NH, and died 27 Jul 1879, Amherst, MA, aged 67 years 1 month, of consumption.[3]

i. Joseph D. Whitney, b. ca. 1838, Boylston, MA; m.(1) 17 Nov 1855, Sterling, MA, Laura A. Heywood, both of West Boylston;[4] m.(2) 19 Apr 1864, Pelham, MA, Clarissa L. Cutting.[5]
ii. Horace M. Whitney, b. ca. 10 Jan 1840, Holden, MA; d. 28 Apr 1859, West Boylston, MA, aged 19 years 3 months 9 days, of consumption.[6]
