James F.8 Whitney (James7, Aaron6, Levi5, Daniel4, Jonathan3, Jonathan2, John1), son of James7 and Julia A. (Dorr) Whitney, was born 7 Jan 1840, Westbrook or Saco, ME, and died 11 Apr 1919, Hartford, CT.[1]

He married, before 1867, Ellen Strange. She was born 17 Mar 1838, St. Stephen, NB, and died 9 Dec 1936, Hartford, CT.[2]

All of this family are buried in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Hartford, CT.

He resided 60 Walnut St., Hartford, CT.

i. Caroline S.9 Whitney, b. 3 Mar 1867, NB; d. 24 Jan 1945, Hartford, CT, unmarried.[3]
ii. Frank E. Whitney, b. 2 May 1869, Hartford, CT; d. 9 Feb 1904, Hartford, CT; unmarried.[4]
iii. Harry Whitney, b. 30 Sep 1872, Hartford, CT; d. 18 Mar 1908, Boston, MA,[5] aged 35 years 6 months 4 days, of pneumococcus meningitis.[6]
