George L.9 Whitney (Henry8, William Henry7, Henry6, Benjamin5, Daniel4, Benjamin3, John2, John1), son of Henry8 and Lucy (Sprague) Whitney, was born 19 Jul 1841, North Adams, MA, and died 20 Jan 1884, North Adams, MA, aged 42 years 6 months 4 days, of consumption.[1]

He married, 14 Mar 1864, Adams, MA, Mary Ellen Cooney, daughter of Patrick and Sarah (-----) Cooney.[2] She was born about 30 Jun 1841, Benson, VT, and died 5 Nov 1903, North Adams, MA, aged 62 years 5 months 5 days, of "shock - nephritis".[3]
