Joseph D.8 Whitney (James D.7, Daniel Hobbs6, Joshua5, Joshua4, Joshua3, Benjamin2, John1), son of James D.7 and Submit (Cutting) Whitney, was born about 1838, Boylston, MA, and died 24 Jul 1901, Shutesbury, MA, aged 66 years 15 days, of angina pectoris.[1]

He married firstly, 17 Nov 1855, Sterling, MA, Laura A. Heywood, both of West Boylston, daughter of James and Anna (-----) Heywood.[2] She was born about 1833, West Boylston, MA.

He married secondly, 19 Apr 1864, Pelham, MA, Clara/Clarissa L. Cutting, dau. of Joseph and Prudence (-----) Cutting.[3] She was born 30 Oct 1844, Ware, MA, and died Dec 1910, Amherst, MA, aged 66 years 1 month 16 days, of organic heart disease.[4] They were divorced.
