Charles Howard8 Whitney (Simeon L.7, Silas6, Joshua5, Joshua4, Joshua3, Benjamin2, John1), son of Simeon L.7 and Mary Temperance (Alexander) Whitney, was born 3 Jun 1842, Geneseo, NY, died 15 Apr 1932, York, NY, and was buried in Pleasant Valley Cemetery, York, NY.

He married firstly, Martha Maria Richardson,[1] daughter of Schuyler and Minerva (Wilson) Richardson. She was born 22 Dec 1842, NY, and died 1903.[2]

He married secondly, Elva (Prentice)(Cook) Thompson. She was born 18 May 1856, and died 16 Mar 1932, aged 75 years, Wyoming Co., NY.[3]

He enlisted for three years, 11 Aug 1862, Geneseo, NY, as Private, Co. G., 136th New York Volunteer Infantry, in the Civil War. Mustered in 25 Sep 1862. Mustered out as a Private, 13 Jun 1865, with company near Washington, DC. Home address, Geneseo, Livingston Co., NY. Age 20, born Livingston Co., NY, farmer, eyes blue, hair dark, complexion light, height 5 ft. 11-1/2 in.[4] On 16 Aug 1890 he made an application for a pension for this service, #901630. It was granted, certificate #667259.[5]
