Joshua6 Whitney (Joshua5, Nathaniel4, Nathaniel3, John2, John1), son of Joshua5 and Mehitable (Wilson) Whitney,[1] was born 11 Nov 1758, Spencer, MA,[2], and died 18 Nov 1850, Pike, Allegany County, NY.

He married 7 Jun 1781, Spencer, MA, Esther Prouty. She was born 11 Jun 1764, Spencer, MA, and died in Langdon, NH.

He married secondly, 30 Oct 1794, Langdon, Sullivan County, NH, Electa Sawtell, daughter of Obadiah and Elizabeth (Adams) Sawtell. She was born 17 Apr 1776, Charlestown, NH.

Joshua Whitney settled in Langdon, NH, where he buried his first wife; then moved to Cavendish, VT, where he married Miss Sawtell.
