Family:Whitney, Solomon (1766-1854)

Solomon⁵ Whitney (Solomon⁴, David³, Joshua², John¹), son of Solomon⁴ and Sarah (Roberts) Whitney, was born 15 Nov 1766, Canaan, CT, and died Sep 1854, Poultney, VT.

He married, Poultney, VT, Polly Marshall. She was born 17 Aug 1767, and died 23 Feb 1837, Poultney.

He was born at Canaan, CT, and soon after reaching his majority moved to Poultney, VT. There he married, purchased land and conducted a large farm until his death in 1854. He died Sep 1854; resided Poultney, VT.

i.	John6 Whitney, b. 1 Sep 1791; married Sally Hollenbeck.
ii.	Sally Whitney, b. 23 Feb 1787; m. Poultney, VT, Oliver Lawrence Angevine. He was b. 1779, d. Poultney, VT, 26 Sep 1870, aged 91, was a farmer. Ch.: Solomon; Mary; Harriett, married James Howe, resided Martinsburg, MO; Hiel; Charity, married Nathaniel Mitchell, resided Fairhaven, VT; James; Mary; Ann; Parcellus, resided Omro, WI; John; Harvey; Sarah, married Henry Farmer, resided Fairhaven.
iii.	Solomon Whitney, b. 4 Jun 1793; m. Nancy Hurlbut.
iv.	Lucy Whitney, b. 11 Nov 1786; m. Harvey Finel; resided Poultney, VT.
v.	Polly Whitney, b. 22 May 1796; m. in Poultney, VT, Caleb Butler. Soon after their marriage they moved to Waukegan, IL, where they resided.
vi.	Chester Whitney, b. 22 May 1798; d. 6 Aug 1845, Poultney, VT; m. Ruth Crane.
vii.	Lydia Whitney, b. 8 Apr 1800; m. Harvey Malary.
viii.	Ruth Whitney, b. 22 Sep 1804; m. in Poultney, VT, A. B. Church; resided Rochester, NY, and Hamburg, SC.
ix.	Ichabod Whitney, b. 7 May 1789; d. unmarried 1807.
x.	Eliza Whitney, b. 4 Mar 1807.
