Elijah1 Whitney, parentage unknown, was born sometime before 1750, supposedly in England, died sometime after 1782, probably in MA.
He had at least two wives, but there names are not known.
Children of Elijah Whitney and his first wife:
i. Ebenezer Whitney, b. ca. 1770, MA. ii. Samuel Whitney. iii. Joshua Whitney, b. ca. 1782, m. Polly Clark.
Children of Elijah Whitney and his second wife:
iv. Elijah Whitney v. Joseph Whitney

ALL,
Might anyone have any information on an Elijah Whitney who came to America and fought against the British during the Revolutionary War.
The following is a record given to my father from his mother;
"Record of the Whitney family as told me by my mother, (recalled) called from a piece of paper kept in the family Bible many years.
Elijah Whitney came from England near the opening of the Revolution. Settled in Massachussett's. Served 7 years in the Revolution. Became Captain.
His children: Ebenezer (CA 1771), Samuel, Joshua (CA 1782) - first wifes children. Elijah, Joseph - Second wifes children.
Joshua Whitney married Polly Clark (M. 1809 - Nelson, NY) children: Eliphalet, Clark, Elbridge, Hiram, James, Amy, Algina & Eben."
As you can read some family information is given but I have a lot of questions.
Does this Elijah Whitney or his children names strike a cord with anyone?
Thanks,
DEW
