Dr. Grove Dutton8 Whitney (Alvin L.7, James6, Cornelius5, Matthias4, Cornelius3, Joshua2, John1), son of Alvin L.7 and Betsey (Cook) Whitney, was born 8 May 1842, Pavilion, NY.

He married, 23 Dec 1867, Rochester, MI, Rebecca Brown8 Whitney, his first cousin, daughter of Luther Day7 and Aroline (Perrin) Whitney. She was born 11 Oct 1843.

He is a doctor; studied medicine at University of Michigan 1865-70. Served as a private in Company A, 140th Regiment New York State Volunteers; was in many engagements and twice wounded; discharged 3 Jul 1865; resided Pavilion, NY.
