Charles Mayo Whitney was born 1833 or 1834, MA.[1] He was probably the son of Jacob and Sally (-----) Whitney. He died 17 Mar 1900, Vancouver, British Columbia.[2]

He married Laura Acenath Maxfield,[3] 1859 or 1860.[4]

Laura was born 16 Sep 1836, Chester, VT.[5] She died 22 Dec 1893,[6] New Westminster, British Columbia.

They lived in Troy for several years, while Charles was working as a lawyer.

By 1880 he is living in Saint Louis, where he is listed variously as a lawyer and an editor.[7]

By 1890, we find Charles and his son, Charles Francis, both living near Vancouver, British Columbia. Charles M. started a newspaper there, and apparently started going by the name "Mayo" (his middle name)

He died 17 Mar 1900, Vancouver, BC.[8]
