Samuel Alvie⁷ Whitney (Nathan⁶, Joseph⁵, Benjamin⁴, John³, Benjamin², John¹), son of Nathan⁶ and Mary Jane (Moore) Whitney, was born 2 Oct 1847, Ripley Co., IN, and died 27 Apr 1943, Holdredge, Phelps Co., NE. He was buried in Alma Cemetery, Alma, NE.^[1]

He married, 13 Oct 1870, Olney, IL, Fannie Newsum, daughter of James B. and Eliza Jane (Slaven) Newsum. She was born 1 Jun 1852, Richland Co., IL, and died 12 Sep 1937, Alma, NE. She was buried in Alma Cemetery, Alma, NE.^[2]
