Family:Whitney, Advent (c1827-1920)

Advent⁸ Whitney (John⁷, Phinehas⁶ Whitney, Samuel⁵, William⁴, Nathaniel³, John², John¹), son of John⁷ and Sarah (Chapman) Whitney, was born about 1840, Waterford, Washington County, Ohio, and died 1920, Saint Louis, Missouri.

He married firstly, 23 Dec 1857, Coal Run, Washington County, Ohio, Rebecca Hall, daughter of William and Missouri (Sprague) Hall. She was born 1842, Ohio, and died 1915.

He married secondly, 16 Feb 1871, Saint Louis, Missouri, Leonora/Sophia Knox, parentage unknown. She was born 1849 and died unknown.

Advent enlisted as a Private in Company K, 58th Regiment, Illinois Volunteers, 17 Mar 1865, and was mustered out on 21 Mar 1866. He resided in Saint Louis, MO, where he was a carpenter.

Children of Advent⁸ and Rebecca (Hall) Whitney:

i.	Silas Whitney, b. 1858, Ohio; m. 1879, Josephine -----, who was b. 1857, Arkansas.
ii.	William Whitney, b. 1860, Illinois; no further record.
iii.	Fredrick Whitney, b. 1865, Illinois; no further record.

Advent⁸ and Leonora/Sophia (Knox) Whitney had no children.
