James Augustus7 Whitney (William6, Sylvanus5, Eliasaph4, Nathan3, John2, Henry1), son of William6 and Elizabeth (Seely) Whitney, was born 15 Sep 1825, St. John, NB, and died after Jan 1874.
He married, 4 Jan 1857, Trinity Church, St. John, NB, Eliza Crear, daughter of John and Anna Maria (Martin) Crear. She was born 11 Nov 1830, St. John, NB, and died after Jan 1874.
Phoenix says the following:
- ". . . a book-keeper . . . . They dwelt in St. John till 1867, most of the time in the house where he was born, which was built by his father in 1820; in Cleveland, Ohio, from 18 Nov. 1869 till 14 March 1871; and then moved to New York City, where they were living, at 523 West 23d Street, in Jan. 1874."
