``Stephen7 Whitney (Henry6, Stephen5, Henry4, Josiah3, John2, Henry1), son of Henry6 and Hannah Eugenia (Lawrence) Whitney, was born 20 Oct 1841, Whitney Avenue, New Haven, CT, and died after 1877.
He married, 27 Apr 1864, New York, NY, Margaret Lawrence Johnson, daughter of Bradish and Louisa Anna (Lawrence) Johnson. She was born 1 Jun 1841, New York, NY, and died after 1877.
Phoenix says the following:
- ". . . was 1st lieut., 4th U. S. Artillery, from 5 Aug. 1861 to 12 Nov. 1863 . . . . He resided on the homestead, Whitney Ave., New Haven, in 1877, spending the Winter months on Woodlawn plantation, Parish of Plaquemine, La."
