Alvin Whitney (Eliab, John, Nathaniel, Benjamin, John), was born 02 16 1840, Newcastle, ME, and died ?, .

He married Ann , possibly the daughter of Anne Fields. She was born abt 1845, Maine.

F. C. Pierce writes that his name was Albion, but in her pension application his mother writes that his name was Alvin.

He is probably found in the 1870 census of Rockport, MA:

Alvin Whitney, age 30, fisherman, b. ME Ann Whitney, age 25, keeping house, b. ME Alice Whitney, age 6, at school, b. ME Anne Fields, age 65, no occupation, b. ME

This family is not found in any other census.

The son claimed for him by F.C. Pierce is also not found in this census.
